Looking for a delicious home-cooked meal and a good sleep in a private cabin after a long day's hike on the Skyline Trail? Come and enjoy the comfort of Shovel Pass Lodge. Horse assisted hiker package and hiker package available. You can use our camp as a base to undertake day hikes to the surrounding alpine basins and ridges.

The lodge is located 20.3 Km (12.6 miles) from the Maligne Lake trailhead on the Skyline Trail, just below Big Shovel Pass, near Curator Lake campground. Most hikers complete the Skyline hiking route departing our camp for the Maligne Canyon trailhead, 25.4 Km (15.8 miles) distant. The entire Skyline Trail route crosses 3 passes (7000-8000 ft elevation). This well-maintained and signed route is one of Jasper’s most magnificent since two-thirds of the trail is at or above tree line.
A shuttle bus service from Maligne Canyon ( the Skyline Trail's north trailhead) to Maligne Lake is operated by MALIGNE LAKE SHUTTLE. We recommend that you book your shuttle from Maligne Canyon to Maligne Lake and leave a car at Maligne Canyon trailhead. That way, you will have a vehicle waiting for you at the end of your trip. Early booking with Maligne Lake Shuttle is suggested, since seating is limited.
WHAT TO BRING
All bed linen is provided in cabins, so hikers need only bring personal items such as a change of footwear, wash towel and flashlight. While all food and beverages are included in our rates, we are not licensed. However, our packers will, be happy to freight in any personal alcoholic beverages if you opt for the Horse assisted hiker package. The weight restriction on personal duffel is 7kg (15 lbs) in soft bags only (no frame packs please).
Freight Schedule
The freight service is available on specific dates only. The schedule may change during peak time, therefore we recommend to check with us one week before your trip.
Tuesday and Saturday: freight available from our stables at the Jasper Park Lodge to Shovel Pass Lodge. Duffle should be brought to our office before 8:30 am on those days or the day before between 8:00 - 5:00 pm.
Thursday and Monday: freight available from Shovel Pass Lodge to our stables at the Jasper Park Lodge. Duffle/packs will be available for pick-up at the office between 3:00 and 5:00 pm on those days or the next days between 8:00-5:00 pm.
