Skyline Trail Rides is a small family oriented outfitting business, operating in

Jasper National Parkfor 28 years. The services offered to guests includes guided 

3-day pack trips to our backcountry Shovel Pass Lodge and horse assisted  hiker packages.

Backcountry Packer -

Seasonal job, full-time,  July and August.

The Packer is responsible for packing and leading a pack sting of horses in a very steep mountain terrain from our trailhead to our backcountry Shovel Pass Lodge located at 7000ft . 

The Wrangler/Packer must have extensive horse knowledge and experience & good horsemanship. This person must be safety conscious and be able to work with minimal supervision.

Requirements are:

Previous experience as backcountry packer

Valid First Aid Certificate

Western riding experience in backcountry 

Physically fit and being able to lift 75 pounds.

Being able to work outside in all kind of weather ( rain and or snow)

Minimum age is 18 years old.


Responsible for cooking meals, menu planning, ordering supplies ,cleaning dishes,  house keeping, etc for Shovel Pass Lodge. The lodge is located on the Skyline Trail and has a  capacity of 18 guests, staying in 7 cabins. The guests are an international mix of people hiking the Skyline Trail or taking part of the 3-day trip on horseback to Shovel Pass Lodge.

Must be able to ride horses to go in and out of camp,( the only way to get there!)  and able to work long period without going out of the backcountry . This person is also responsible to  welcome guests at their arrival at the lodge and help them during their stay.

There is no electricity on site, only propane appliances. No internet connection, just quiet wilderness surroundings. 

Valid First Aid and Food safe certificates required.


This person will work closely with the cook/manager and help him/her with the daily kitchen tasks including cabins cleaning, cleaning dishes, food prep, etc. Both position are seasonal, July & August and full time, the kitchen helper position could be arrange for a one month period.
